Intel Entering The Tablet and Smartphone Market

Intel’s new Moorestown processors are setting the company towards tablet and smartphone domination by offering a faster and more capable chip technology that out performs the competition. What this means is the devices will be able to carry PC like performance and have 10 times the battery life compared to other devices.

Business applications, three-way video conferencing, multitasking, and media playback in hd can now be handled without breaking a sweat, thanks to the new processor. Current devices utilize ARM processors which typically run Apple’s Ipad , Iphone, and some of the other new tablets and smartphones, which are limited by its ability to process higher resource intensive applications. In comparison, Intel says that the Moorestown based processor, is capable of running applications faster and maintain battery life. This is great news for those looking for laptop performance in a tablet.

Intel hasn’t announced companies who will be releasing tablets based on the Moorestown processor, however, AT&T in March announced it will have a Moorestown-based tablet on an OpenPeak design later this year. So before you pull the trigger on Ipads for the office, make sure to keep your eyes peeled on a Moorestown powered tablet or smartphone.
