Computer running slow? Clean the @?%& off your PC.

Slow Computer?

Like that old Volkswagen in your garage, your PC gets slower and crappier over time. Here’s a short guide on cleaning it up without needing a reformat or reinstalling Windows.

How many times have we all turned on our PCs just to sit there for 3 or 4 minutes while it boots up or shuts down? Your applications open like molassas, your harddrive grinding away as Windows tries to populate the icons on your desktop. This isn’t the way it used to be. Your computer used to be impressively fast. You would call people into your home office, and show off your speedy startup. Now it’s all different, and this is no way to live.

The Rise of E-Readers and the Nook

[This is a guest post by GURU 'Nook Expert', Jennifer Adams]
When Amazon’s Kindle debuted in 2007, I turned my nose up at it, because it wasn’t a “real book.” “Real books” have paper pages and smell like ink. You can peruse “real books” in brick & mortar stores where the smell of the pages [...]

Android 2.2 = Extended Battery Life?

HTC Incredible customers are reporting that with the latest “over-the-air” update on their Android OS (2.2), battery life seems to have been extended by nearly 60 percent. The new OS update was promising greater performance by accelerating JAVA and Javascript execution. But with a mega fast 1ghz processor, the performance updates don’t seem to be the feature that stands out the most.

This is good news for anyone still on the fence on deciding to go with an Andriod OS based phone. Droidx customers, unfortunately, will have to wait a few weeks for the 2.2 update. So keep those charges close by in the meantime.

Typographers Rejoice!

Soon these could be web safe fonts

Some of us have been experiencing the internet since the early 90’s. In 1992 the first commercial companies started offering internet access to users. Since then the internet has grown and changed drastically, but there are a few things which have remained constant…

Google Apps

Cloud Computing

Creating a big, multi-billion dollar enterprise like Microsoft or Google takes a certain type of personality. You must do things nobody else has done. Bill Gates, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin all saw the value in new technologies and worked to make them a reality. Now, both of these companies are competing in the software market. Microsoft has long dominated the email, office tools, and web browser markets. Their customer list is enormous and most new PC consumers still find Microsoft software pre-installed. Even with well-established alternatives like OpenOffice and Lotus Notes from IBM, Microsoft is leagues ahead of everybody else. This is where Google steps in.
